The CER has today, 11th December 2014, published a Press Release regarding the prosecution of a company, Camperman LTD, for portraying itself as a Registered Gas Installer. Under the Electricity Regulation Act 1999 (as amended) it is a criminal offence for any individual to portray oneself as a Registered Gas Installer while not being registered with the Register of Gas Installers of Ireland.

On 28th July 2014 the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) successfully prosecuted an individual from County Carlow who plead guilty to illegally carrying out gas works, specifically the installation of a domestic gas boiler. This case was heard at the Dublin District Court.

The LPG LP Single Stage Regulator manufactured by OARA/Italy of the OARA Gas Master Range (cylinder type propane) has been found to be prone to failure caused by internal corrosion, resulting in an over pressure condition and should therefore be replaced and removed from service.

On 17th June 2014, the CER published a Consultation Paper on the Regulation of the Gas Installer Industry with respect to Safety from 2016.

The CER has today, 19th February 2014, published a Press Release regarding the prosecution of an individual who carried out Gas Works while not being registered as a Registered Gas Installer and for portraying himself as a Registered Gas Installer.

The dangers associated with carbon monoxide are promoted to the general public every year through television, radio, press, digital and direct mail advertising. This year, however, in an effort to do something different and to generate greater public engagement on the subject of carbon monoxide, a dedicated Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week is being held from September 23rd to September 29th.
