Data Protection Notice

The Register of Gas Installers of Ireland (RGII) was appointed by the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) as a Gas Safety Supervisory Body. The RGII views your right to privacy under Data Protection legislation very seriously. Any personal information will be processed using the highest standards of security and confidentiality, strictly in accordance with the Data Protection Acts Please take a few moments to read the Data Protection Notice below in order that you understand your rights.
In discharging its functions, the RGII collects and keeps personal data (hereinafter “Data”) from Gas Installers and Consumers. This Data is used to deal with the registration requirements relating to matters such as installers’ qualifications, insurance, inspections, annual subscriptions and conformance certificates. Please note that the RGII may keep the Data for a reasonable time after the Gas Installer has been de-registered, but will not keep it any longer than is necessary and/or as required by law, nor shall it use the Data for any purpose, other than stated above.

The Register is publicly available on the RGII website, and assists Consumers in their search for names and contact details of Gas Installers.
The RGII also collects Data relating to Consumers in the completion of various forms such as Declaration of Conformance Certificates, Notifications of Hazards, Complaints, Change of Installer Requests, reporting of illegal Gas Installers or from any other requests relating to works undertaken by Gas Installers, incident investigations or general gas safety. This Data will not be kept any longer than is necessary and/or as required by law.

The RGII may disclose your Data to the Commission for Energy Regulation, Bord Gais Networks and to third parties who act on behalf of the RGII, in connection with the activities referred to above. Such third parties are only permitted to use your Data as instructed by the RGII. They are also required to keep your Data safe and secure.

You have a right to copies of your Data and to have any inaccuracies corrected. Requests should be made in writing to the CER at The Exchange, Belgard Square North, Tallaght, Dublin 24.
